CCM (CONTINUING COMPETENCY MANAGER)

CCM is a tool for use on board or on shore. Available online or offline, it identifies, quantifies, tests, tracks and records competence of seafarers. It helps managers to identify the crew they need for specific ships, recognise and control the strengths and weaknesses of the crew, and take action to continually improve their competence.

A highly competent crew is a key asset to any ship, helping operations run smoothly and quickly, and reducing the likelihood of accidents and expensive errors.

CCM assesses seafarers by using an in built library of tests and questions, developed by expert deck and engineer trainers. The system also holds a career record for each seafarer, showing every drill/training course s/he attends. It issues simple ‘traffic light’ reminders of any overdue training. If a weakness is identified, or a seafarer needs additional competence for promotion, CCM suggests the right course, whether it is shore based or distance learning.
